Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital(Director: Cheong, dong-hwa) is proud of its 11-year history since the opening at Gusan-dong, eunpyeong-gu, Seoul in Apr 1998. It took the first step in rehabilitation field in Korea which was almost a wasteland. For the past 11 years, it has focused on rehabilitation and education for the purpose of providing differentiated and customized rehabilitation service. It has played a key role leading rehabilitation treatment in Korea operating 'daytime ward' for children-adult in intensive rehabilitation program(in 2006), opening Snoezelen facility for the first time in Korea(in 1999) and Sensory Integrative Therapy facility(in 1999).

Its continuous inducing innovative rehabilitation programs, know-how and research achievement accumulated by its professionals completed '3L', a total rehabilitation program that is provided by this hospital only. 3L is a total rehabilitation program brand that provides integrated rehabilitation by age (Life-Cycle, adult․youth․child), entertaining advanced rehabilitation (Life-Entertainment, specialized rehabilitation․recreation rehabilitation․sports rehabilitation), and rehabilitation by lifestyle (Lifestyle, hospitalization․daytime ward․outpatient).

The purpose of this total rehabilitation program(3L) is to help patients go back home and to society by providing professional rehabilitation treatment that is closest to their daily and social life as well as refabrication treatment by disease and age for stroke, spinal damage, cerebral palsy, development delay, etc.

Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital is not staying satisfied with constructing high-quality rehabilitation software but it is planning to construct a hardware that can systematically create such softwares. Ongoing hospital remodeling is one of these plans. After the expanding the number of beds and remodeling preparation for about 5 years, it already opened a rehabilitation center for adults (annex, 60 beds) in March 2009 as the 1st step and it is also planning to present a rehabilitation hospital for children with seven stories above the ground in this June (main building, 50 beds).

Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital's remodeling is based on the concept of 'Green, Environment-friendly'. In this concept, all the visible and invisible environments like the interior, facility arrangement, treatment system and subsidiary facilities are all connected to treatment. To minimize fear of the hospital by handicapped children requiring long-term treatment and to make them feel comfortable like home, it especially placed various themes in many places in the hospital and reduced the atmosphere of artificial hospital by using environment-friendly materials like raw timber. All these efforts are for the purpose of the environment-friendly treatment, and in other words, green rehabilitation.

The first focus of the treatment of this hospital is specialized rehabilitation, the second is environments and finally the third is 'family'. It is because family members of a patient participate in rehabilitation treatment in this hospital. With special programs for family like education for parents in ward(children), family meeting(children․adult) and class for fathers(children), it made ways for family to participate in treatment. After the remodeling, it is planning to provide a space for family treatment where family members can rest together and participate in treatment.
